We're back. Artie's safe. I left him watching television -- some cartoon, gods only know what -- in the rec room, if anyone wants to find him. I didn't know whether to stay with him or not, but he could probably use somebody who understands children a bit better than I do. He might be a little upset, due to going through the whole ordeal this afternoon, and he'll probably be acting oddly for a while.

I must say that I'm quite surprised. I wouldn't have imagined any of you having the, well, the capacity to do any of those very creative things I saw today. I'm not sure if I should congratulate you or not for such unexpected mettle. It was very enthusiastic, though.

...'Yana? How did you get Artie out of there? Not that I'm not real glad you did, and I wasn't exactly best placed to see you leave, but there were dupes everywhere, and even if you could fight 'em all off, it'd be a lot harder with him in tow...

And I repeat: Does it matter? Why is it that the conclusion is always 'mutant powers', no matter what?

Because someone was pretty definite about not being able to do magic, as I seem to recall...

Well, there wasn't a way out of that warehouse short of teleporting, and there's only two options, magic or mutant powers. Just curious as to which it is, especially since if it's magic, Artie might need looking over, to make sure he's okay. Some teleportation spells do a bit of a number on your head. So, 'Yana, how did you get out of there with him?

I can assure you that Artie does not need a looking-over for magical teleportation, if that makes you feel better.

Well, I was thinking more of Clarice than of you, really.

Getting him out was the easy part. I don't envy anyone who has to deal with the rest of it. He was quite shaken when I left him.
